Well this is sad news. I’ve just discovered that one of my favourite authors Philip Kerr has died at the early age of 62.
He is best known for his Bernie Gunther series focusing on a Berlin detective’s career from the 1930s to the 1950s including World War Two. The thirteenth book in the series Greeks Bearing Gifts is due for publication next week. Apparently Kerr finished a fourteeth Bernie Gunther novel titled Metropolis which will be published next year.
His other novels include Gridiron which was a Michael Crichton style thriller about a high tech building gone wrong.
Here’s an obituary from the Guardian.
